Dr Olivia MacVie
Dr Olivia MacVie is an ophthalmic surgeon who treats patients at St John of God Bunbury and Subiaco Hospitals.
Dr MacVie graduated in medicine at the University of Western Australia in 1999. She completed specialist ophthalmology training in Western Australia and gained Fellowship to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.
Dr MacVie attained her fellowship training in the United Kingdom at Bristol Eye Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Royal Free Hospital and Fred Hollows Foundation in Kathmandu Nepal, Hanoi Vietnam and Alice Springs, Australia.
Dr MacVie specialises in cataract surgery and general ophthalmic conditions and has a special interest in conditions of the eyelids and lacrimal system including:
- Cataract surgery
- Eyelid malpositions
- Periocular tumour excision and reconstructions
- Cosmetic eyelid surgery
- Lacrimal drainage problems (watery eyes)

The potentially life-saving trial aims to identify patients who are at risk of giving birth early due to a bacterial infection. For women who return a positive test result, the study is also testing whether a probiotic treatment regimen can be used to prevent preterm birth from occurring.
